Our 1st Day of 1st Grade

We had a fun and busy first day of school today. What wonderful children you have. Some of the fun we had today included:

~ Class introductions (ask them to tell you about our class pets that they met :-)
~ Classroom behavior guidelines (a handout covering this went home in their backpacks today) (not particularly fun, but important)
~ We had lunch in the cafeteria
~ Recess
~ Met their 4th grade buddies
~ Visited the library and each student picked out 2 books

Busy, busy, busy!  Fun, Fun, Fun! More to come tomorrow!

A Great Group!

Thank you to all who attended "Meet the Teacher Night" last night. Wow! That may be a record for the most smiles I have ever seen in one room. This is going to be a great year and it's terrific that so many of the children already seem to know each other and could pick up right from where they left off in May.

I loved hearing them share some of their stories from their summer adventures. I am sure they are eager to share so many more memories with the class on the first day of school. Thank you parents for bringing your children. What a joy it was to meet so many of you and your kids.

I'll see everybody on the first day of school!

Welcome to 1st Grade!

Welcome to Mrs. Boyd's
 1st Grade Class Blog!

Hello boys and girls! I am so excited to meet all of you soon. I am Mrs. Boyd and I will be your teacher this year. We will have so much fun together. You will meet many new friends this year and have a lot of fun learning new things everyday!

Brody, Siena and Braydon
A little about myself... I have been teaching 1st grade for 6 years. I grew up in Lima Ohio, received my undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and my teaching license in k-3 education from Ashland University. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 14 years and together we have 3 crazy kids, Braydon, age 8; Brody, age 7 and Siena, age 4. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

I can easily be reached at my email address aboyd4@ashland.edu. Parents, if you have any questions or concerns before or during the school year please do not hesitate to send me an email. See you all very soon. I hope you enjoy the last couple week of summer!

If you are able, I would love to see everyone at "Meet the teacher night" on August 18th, in our classroom at 6:30!
